Exterior signage for the Art Institute of Boston

Color selection for the lettering alludes both to early modernist color theory developed by Wassily Kandinsky, and the building's architecture. The Cherokee red originates in the building's window mullions. Building on this complex variation of the primary colors, a mustard yellow compliments a smoky violet blue which takes it cue from tinted window panes.
